Come along for an evening of astronomy education and immersion. This evening will involve an eclipse lecture by Dr Kate Russo, who will outline why the total solar eclipse is one of the most intense and awe-inspiring nature events, and how it unexpectedly affects people. She will also provide details of the 2012 and 2015 total eclipses, and an overview of future opportunities for eclipse chasing in 2016 and 2017.

Attendees will also get to experience an astronomy show in the Dream Dome – a mobile planetarium that allows for an immersive experience. Local astronomer Ian Maclean will introduce a short film, followed by a tour of the night sky and details of how you can catch the partial solar eclipse from Cairns on the morning of 9 March.

Following the lectures, there will be an opportunity to mingle with Kate and Ian, with tea and biscuits provided.

This evening will appeal to those with a general interest in the wonders of our universe. Early booking is advised, as this event is anticipated to sell out as only 50 tickets are available.
